May 30th - The rise of a new world power

Economist all of the world are in agreement that by the year 2025 China will surpass the United States as the largest global economy; by 2035 it will double that of the US. Does this mean foreigners will will flock to China as opposed to the US to find decent work as a result of this prediction? I'm sure our increasing unemployment rate will only further prove this possibility. We might even see a few Americans traveling to the People's Republic just to get a taste of this new economy. This video might have the answer- you decide for yourself!

May 24th - Company Info Received

After weeks and weeks (and weeks) of waiting I finally received an email telling me what company I will be interning for this summer over in Beijing! The company is B&D Law Firm and I cannot be more ecstatic. They are one of China's oldest and largest multinational firms and with over 40 partners and 200 legal professionals; they also have firms in Hong Kong, the UK, and even the good old U S of A. The firm in Beijing is located in an area known as Wangjing which is regarded as the city's "technological hub." They share a building with such companies as Siemens, Microsoft, Daimler, and Motorola.

B&D Law Firm deals with a multitude of practices such as international investments, mergers and acquisitions, banking, and intellectual property, just to name a few. IP law is the route I want to take in the future so I am hoping to be involved in the department heavily. More info to come later when I arrive!

Today marks the 12 day countdown until I depart from JFK International to Switzerland, Switzerland to Beijing and the beginning of a life changing experience. Hope you all enjoy reading and seeing the pictures/videos I post on this blog.
